Kenneth R. Fulmer, PE
Executive Vice President and Chief Growth Officer
Kenneth (Ken) Fulmer is UrbanNY’s Chief Growth Officer and has served on UrbanNY’s board of directors since 2015. Ken’s national experience leading strategic company growth for all areas of the firm’s markets uniquely positions him to lead UrbanNY into its next exciting chapter.
In his role as Chief Growth Officer, Ken is responsible for driving the long-term, sustainable growth of the firm in the New York metropolitan area and beyond. This includes developing strategic business plans that align the firm’s mission, expertise, and resources with anticipated market/industry trends and client needs. Ken manages a team that addresses the business development, client relationships, teaming partners, pursuit, marketing, branding, and social media needs of the firm.
Ken’s 30+ year career began in construction management services, working on-site and learning the many intricate elements of construction, quality assurance and quality control, project controls including CPM scheduling, constructability and risk management on complex surface transportation, transit and building projects in the New York metropolitan area, mid-Atlantic area and other locations through the United States. Later, Ken led full-service design groups that included site/civil, structural, and MEP engineering disciplines. Throughout his career, Ken developed a reputation as a transparent, empowering leader who can build cohesive, successful teams.
Ken is a graduate of Drexel University with a master’s degree in engineering management and bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering and architectural engineering. Since 2018, Ken has served on Drexel University’s Board of Trustees, helping to guide and support the University’s mission. Ken is a professional engineer in five states; New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
He is active in the AEC industry as a member of organizations that share UrbanNY’s commitment to promoting the engineering profession and advocating for increased investments in infrastructure. Ken has long been an advocate and ally for women in engineering. In 2020, Ken founded the HeForSWE affinity group of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). HeForSWE focuses on growing inclusion and advocacy efforts by increasing male allies in STEM fields. In 2022, WTS International awarded Ken with the Secretary Ray Lahood Award. This award recognizes an individual who has contributed to the advancement of women and minorities in the industry. In that same year, Ken’s article titled “Women in Remote-Work Environments” became one of the top 10 most-read Zweig articles.
When he’s not contributing to Urban’s growth, Ken’s passion is spending time with his family—his wife, two daughters, and dog Charlie—and participating, supporting, and celebrating in their accomplishments.
